Sun Yat-sen University Sixth Affiliated Hospital · Guangdong Gastrointestinal and Anal Hospital, formerly the Yuancun Workers' Clinic established in June 1964, was renamed Guangzhou Sixth People's Hospital in 1969. In 2007, Guangzhou Sixth People's Hospital was transferred in its entirety to Sun Yat-sen University and named "Sun Yat-sen University Sixth Affiliated Hospital," abbreviated as "Zhongshan Sixth Hospital." In 2009, it added the sign "Guangdong Gastrointestinal and Anal Hospital." In 2016, Zhongshan Sixth Hospital passed the tertiary Grade-A hospital evaluation and has developed into a "Grade-A" comprehensive hospital with advanced technical standards, domestic renown, and international specialty characteristics. The gastrointestinal and anal specialty, reproductive medicine, and other disciplines have formed national influence, serving as a distinctive medical card of Guangdong Province, with patients with difficult diseases from across the province and nation seeking treatment. Today's Zhongshan Sixth Hospital is a tertiary Grade-A comprehensive hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, prevention, and rehabilitation healthcare, one of Sun Yat-sen University's ten directly affiliated hospitals, with two campuses (Yuancun main campus and Shougouling North Campus), and two community health service centers (stations) including Huaying Community and Yuancun Street. With 1,202 authorized beds and 1,323 actually open beds, the hospital is one of Guangzhou's social medical insurance designated medical institutions with the highest "AAA-level hospital" classification, a Guangzhou medical insurance designated hospital, a Guangdong Province intra-provincial cross-regional medical treatment online settlement hospital, a national cross-provincial cross-regional medical treatment online settlement hospital, and a public medical care designated hospital (Guangdong Province, Guangzhou City, various districts), ranking among the top five medical institutions in Guangdong Province for out-of-province resident inpatient visits.
