In 1985, Dr. Sun Yat-sen granddaughter Sun Suifang suggested to President Li Xiannian to establish Sun Yat-sen Cardiovascular Hospital in Shenzhen to commemorate Dr. Sun Yat-sen. With approval and joint efforts, the hospital officially opened on November 12, 1992. President Li Xiannian personally inscribed the hospital name. The hospital has a Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall.
