Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital was founded in 1904 and became affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2002. It is a Grade III Class A large comprehensive teaching hospital. The hospital has 1,826 approved beds and 1,956 actually open beds, with 46 clinical and medical technology departments. In 2017, outpatient and emergency visits reached 3.998 million, inpatient admissions 105,200, and various surgeries 116,800. The hospital has 1 academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, 1 National 973 Chief Scientist, 4 National Health Commission Outstanding Contribution Young and Middle-aged Experts, 2 National Natural Science Foundation Outstanding Youth Fund recipients, and 1 Central Organization Department Young Top Talent Support Program selectee.
