About
Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Hospital was founded in February 1947 and is one of the earliest provincial and municipal maternal and child health hospitals established in China. In September 1952, it was renamed Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Hospital. In 1992, it passed the national Baby-Friendly Hospital evaluation. In 1995, it was rated as a tertiary Grade A specialty hospital. In 2006, it became the Affiliated First Maternity and Infant Hospital of Tongji University. It is a Shanghai Civilized Unit and a designated unit for Shanghai cadre healthcare. The hospital earnestly implements the national maternal and child health policy, and under the leadership of superior authorities, adheres to the work requirements of 'improving services, enhancing quality, controlling costs, and benefiting the people.' It insists on the public welfare direction of hospital operation, adheres to patient-centered care, and provides high-quality medical services to women and infants with advanced technology and excellent service.
