Shanghai Fengxian District Central Hospital is located in Nanqiao Town, Fengxian District. Founded in 1956, it is a comprehensive hospital undertaking medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, prevention, and community service tasks, and is the largest-scale, most equipment-concentrated, and strongest technical force hospital in the district. It undertakes medical and healthcare tasks for the district's 520,000 population and is responsible for referral, consultation, and professional guidance work for district-level hospitals and town health centers (clinics). Annual outpatient and emergency visits total around 300,000, with over 14,000 inpatient admissions annually. Bed utilization rate reaches high levels. The hospital covers 26,000 square meters with a building area of nearly 30,000 square meters, 460 approved beds, actually 502 open beds, and 954 on-staff employees, including 11 chief physicians, 41 associate chief physicians, and 169 intermediate professionals. It is a teaching hospital of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinical Medical College, undertaking the college's clinical teaching tasks, with six clinical teaching groups: internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, ophthalmology and ENT, and nursing. The hospital employs 17 part-time full and associate professors and teaches over 200 college and technical school interns annually.
