Guangzhou Children's Hospital was officially established on August 1, 1953, formerly Da Bao Luo Hospital. After more than 50 years of development, it has become one of the influential children's hospitals in China, a Grade III Class A children's specialty hospital integrating prevention, medical treatment, healthcare, and rehabilitation, with equal emphasis on clinical practice, teaching, and research. The Guangzhou Institute of Pediatrics was established in 1994, and it was designated as Guangzhou Medical College Affiliated Children's Hospital in 1998. The hospital has 400 beds with departments including infectious diseases, gastroenterology, respiratory, nephrology, hematology, neurology rehabilitation, cardiovascular, endocrinology, neonatal internal medicine, neonatal surgery, urology, orthopedics, burns, pediatric general surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, oral surgery, ENT, and ophthalmology. In 2005, outpatient visits exceeded 1.34 million and inpatient admissions exceeded 21,000.
