In November 2018, the former Guangzhou Military Region Guangzhou General Hospital announced that the hospital would be renamed the Chinese People's Liberation Army Southern Theater Command General Hospital (formerly Guangzhou Military Region Guangzhou General Hospital) effective November 2018. This marked the official establishment of the PLA Southern Theater Command General Hospital. The former Guangzhou Military Region General Hospital was founded in 1933 and is a large modern comprehensive hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, research, prevention, healthcare, and rehabilitation. It is a national and military tertiary Grade-A hospital located on Liuhua Road, Yuexiu District, Guangzhou, Guangdong Province.
