Beijing Xicheng District Zhanlanlu Hospital was founded in 1957 and is a comprehensive district-level and secondary qualified hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, and disease prevention. It was first recognized by the World Health Organization as an International Baby-Friendly Hospital and was among the first batch to enter Beijing's basic medical insurance designated medical institutions in 2000. To better serve residents in the jurisdiction, a new Zhanlanlu Hospital was built at No. 16 Xizhimennandajie (former Jinjinxiang Primary School). The new hospital has greatly improved the environment and was put into use in May 2004. The hospital currently covers an area of over 8,000 square meters with a building area of over 12,000 square meters. It has over 480 employees, over 190 open beds, and over 30 business departments. Internal medicine and obstetrics and gynecology are the hospital's key professional disciplines.
