Beijing Geriatric Hospital is a Beijing municipal tertiary comprehensive hospital integrating geriatric disease medical treatment, research, teaching and prevention. It is a designated hospital for Beijing medical insurance and work injury, as well as a designated hospital for work injury rehabilitation, with 800 approved beds. It is also the Beijing Elderly Health Service Guidance Center, Beijing Institute of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine for Geriatric Diseases, a teaching hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, a teaching hospital of Beijing Health Vocational College, a clinical research base for geriatric diseases of the Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, a national undergraduate education practice base - Clinical Skills Comprehensive Training Center, a geriatric nursing teaching base of Peking University School of Nursing, a clinical teaching practice base for geriatric nursing specialist nurses of the Chinese Nursing Association, a clinical teaching and training base for geriatric specialist nurses of the Beijing Nursing Association, a national hospice care demonstration (education) base of the National Life Care Association, and a Sino-British joint training base of the Beijing Living Will Promotion Association. The hospital is located in the Wenquan area of northern Haidian New District, covering an area of 170,000 square meters, with a greening area of over 50%. It has beautiful scenery and lush trees, and is known as a "garden-style hospital" and "natural oxygen bar." The hospital was founded in 1949. After several name changes, in 2001, Beijing Geriatric Hospital was added to Beijing Chest Hospital, and it was officially renamed Beijing Geriatric Hospital in 2007. According to the characteristics of elderly people suffering from multiple diseases and changes in elderly medical service models, targeting geriatric syndromes, the hospital actively promotes a multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment model, greatly simplifying patient consultation processes and improving diagnosis and treatment effects. The hospital has complete departments with various specialties for treating acute and chronic diseases.
