Songnan District Hospital is located in Songnan Town, the northern wing auxiliary city of Shanghai—Baoshan District, as a Grade I-A hospital. Its predecessor was the Beijiao District Eighth Joint Clinic, built in 1956. In 1962 and 1993, the hospital was renamed Songnan Health Center and Songnan District Hospital respectively. With 3,200 square meters of building area and 50 authorized beds, it currently employs 79 staff members, with health technical personnel accounting for 87%, including 3 associate senior titles and 11 intermediate titles. It has medical technology departments including pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, electrocardiography, B-ultrasound, and transcranial Doppler (TCD), with complete instrument and equipment. Clinical departments include internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, dentistry, ophthalmology, traditional Chinese medicine, and acupuncture and traumatology. The vitiligo and alopecia specialty outpatient clinic is the hospital's main characteristic, with national influence. The hospital has added a home bed department and established three community health service points within the town's 13.56 square kilometers, dedicated to providing timely, convenient, and affordable medical and health services to nearly 100,000 residents and dozens of enterprises and institutions in the community. The hospital has 1,710 square meters of green space with comfortable environment and shady trees. The hospital established vitiligo and alopecia specialty outpatient clinics in 1974, using secret prescriptions contributed by renowned veteran traditional Chinese medicine practitioners, developing 8 types of pure traditional Chinese medicine preparations containing no hormones with minimal side effects, for internal and external use combined with Western medicine and autologous epidermal transplantation, treating both symptoms and root causes. From 1982 to present, it has treated vitiligo 101,300 visits with effectiveness rates of 41.6-64.5%; treated alopecia 93,400 visits, with seborrheic alopecia effectiveness rate of 41.2% and alopecia areata effectiveness rate of 92.7%, all at domestic leading levels.
